Culture & Society
The goliath race is very tribal in nature; they believe in strength of arm and maintaining close family ties. Their people are very proud of their heritage and tend to look down on the smaller races until they have proven themselves in battle, or by demonstrating great loyalty.
Beyond their towering stature and broad frames, goliaths generally appear to be almost human with hair and skin tones that reflect the broad range present among humans. Additionally, all goliaths are born with a series of unique tribal markings upon their bodies. Their ancestral histories tell them that these markings are an indication of an individual’s fate. Unfortunately, the knowledge required to interpret their meaning has been lost to the ages.
Goliath tribes are fiercely competitive in nature! Individual honor is gained by hunting and slaying the most formidable foes possible. A tribe gains prestige through the achievements of its greatest warriors. Often a lone goliath will roam the world for decades in search of an enemy worthy of bringing back to their tribe as a trophy.
Racial Traits
- Powerful Build – You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
- Stones Endurance – You can focus yourself to occasionally shrug off injury. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to roll a dl2. Add your Constitution modifier to the number rolled, and reduce the damage by that total. After you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
- Mountain Born – You’re acclimated to high altitude, including elevations above 20,000 feet. You’re also naturally adapted to cold climates, as described in chapter 5 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide.
