Culture & Society
The Warforged are more akin to sentient constructs, than an actual race. The magic-users who create them infuse a portion of themselves and the natural environment around them resulting in each Warforged having a unique appearance and aspect. They are brought to life by a unique jewel called a Soulgem that is secured within their chassis. These Soulgems are extremely rare and valuable making them frequently the subject of bounties to collect them.
Most Warforged develop personalities that are a mixture of their original creator and those individuals that interacted with them during the early days of their awakening. This results in a unique individual with a fully formed personality rather than simply an animatronic golem.
An adventuring Warforged may have become separated from its creator due to their demise or perhaps they are lost. Others may have been sent forth by their creator to accomplish a certain task, only to return home upon its completion. Some merely develop enough of a personality that they feel they have “grown up” and need to explore the world on their own.
